Adventure in Serenia is one of those games that no-one at Sierra today probably remembers. And if someone does, he doesn't tell reveal it. Why? Thats very simple, this game blows, so to say.
Wizard & Princess, as AiS was then knownwas the second game released by by Roberta Williams/On-line Systems. In diffirence to another game of theirs released at same time, Mystery House, Wizard & Princess had colour graphics, which was something uncommon then. Needless to say, it really wasn't the most advanced colour that there is. This version is the re-release for IBM.
Since this is IF-game one would suspect that at least the plot would be good. Well, not really, its got more cliches than I have ways to spend money. Besides the idiotical plot the game has really stupid puzzles, and that only made me consider twice before trying another early Sierra adventure. Only sane reason to have this game that I can think of is manical tendency to collect games. Even if I am not fan of IF I doubt that a hard-core fan of the genre finds this title amusing. This is what you get when you make games in the corner of your kitchen >;)
To save you from hurting yourself with this game I'll put the short version of the plot to back up my review: An very and bad evil wizard, Harlin the Malevolent has taken the Princess Priscilla as prisoner and has put up magical barriers to prevent you, the Wanderer from being able to save her. Still (you) the Wanderer managed to overcome the evil Wizard and save the Princess. Wizard however seeks for vengeance and tries to change history so the Wanderer didn't actually save the Princess. He challenges him to try and save her, with the new barriers up. Ofcourse, you as a witty hero are able to saved the beautiful Princess and get her & half of the kingdom as reward. Well forget that last one :) Interesting, non useless fact is that Serenia is one of the biggest countrys in Kings Quest V.
